In recent years, many high school students are having a lot more distractions then before because of electronic devices. They assigned a 17 year old boy a book to read over the summer called, "cats cradle" and only managed to read only 43 pages in two months. He was more interested in facebook, YouTube and making digital videos. Computers and cellphones, and constant stream of stimuli they offer a new challenge focusing and learning.
